While I know that there is a mod that sets the sliders to step only in certain step sizes (which I currently use) this mod has the great disadvantage that you can no longer set the sliders up by anothing else than the pre-sets of the mod, which can result. However, Unlike genre combinations, the game gives you no direct feedback on the quality of your direction/genre decisions.
